The Maxim Defense 22 Suppressor is made from military-grade materials and construction. It reportedly has no first-round pop and decreases the flash signature and reduces noise levels to hearing safe levels.

Light-weight and ideal for pistols, the DRF:22 suppressor is rated for .22LR, .22MAG, and .17HMR loads. It adds only 5.4” to the end of the host weapon, all under 4 ounces. Maxim states that the DRF has no detectable first-round pop and drops sound levels to well below hearing safe levels with a specific reduction based on caliber, host weapon, and weather conditions. Maxim’s average measurement per MILSTD-1474D of 114 dB average with Gemtech subsonic ammunition and 123dB with CCI Minimag ammunition.

Taurus G3 Tactical – The Mag Life

Taurus, the manufacturer of handguns for defense, hunting, and sport shooting, has upgraded its offers to include the first factory custom variant of the G3 9mm defensive handgun. The G3 Tactical pistol comes ready for duty with design features that accept key user-installed aftermarket upgrades.

Taurus has upgraded its product offerings to include the first factory custom variant of the G3 pistol, the G3 Tactical pistol in 9mm. The G3 comes ready for duty with key upgrades like a threaded barrel, suppressor-height sights, and a flat two-staged trigger.

The Taurus G3 Tactical is a full-size polymer striker-fired pistol that visually sets itself apart from the standard Taurus G3 with its receiver in Magpul FDE and the slide complemented with an element-resistant Patriot Brown Cerakote finish. Offered in either 17- or 10-round magazine configurations, the Taurus G3 Tactical delivers the same ergonomic performance and reliable operation that has made the Taurus G3 handgun a reported leader in the personal defense handgun category.

Understanding that confidence in equipment equates to confident performance in the field, Taurus engineers equipped the G3 Tactical to allow the modern-day personal defense practitioner to build their firearm “their way.”

Optic-Ready Slide

The precision alloy steel slide features the innovative Taurus Optic Ready Option (T.O.R.O.), with interchangeable optic mounting plates to allow easy installation of the most common red dot optics on the market. Compatible mounting patterns include Docter, Venom, FastFire (plate 1), Trijicon RMR, Holosun 407c/507c (plate 2), C-More STS2 (plate 3), and Leupold Deltapoint Pro (plate 4).

Taurus G3 Tactical pistol with light
Keeping the end-user in mind, Taurus equipped the G3 Tactical with modern-day personal defense options. The TORO option, with interchangeable mounting plates for optics, along with the factory threaded barrel means that the user can modify the pistol to meet their needs.

Threaded Barrel

With the growing use of suppressors and aftermarket compensators, the Taurus G3 Tactical also comes with a factory-threaded 1/2×28 DLC-coated barrel. The Diamond-Like Coating’s reduced friction coefficient ensures smooth operation and increased durability. Installation of a custom muzzle device or suppressor is simple, and a thread protector is included for use when the barrel is run “bare.”

Backup Sighting Solution

To accommodate the use of a suppressor or optic, the Taurus G3 Tactical comes with tall co-witness open sights. These offer a clear sight picture when used in combination with most suppressors and aftermarket muzzle devices and provide the much-needed backup sighting solution for use with a red dot optic.

G3 Tactical pistol from Taurus with optic
The G3 Tactical comes standard with suppressor-heigh sights that also co-witness optics, meaning your sight radius won’t be impeded when using with a suppressor.

Pic Rail

Additional features of the Taurus G3 Tactical include a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail to mount a tactical light or laser and a loaded chamber indicator for visual verification if a cartridge is loaded in the chamber. The pistol also comes with a re-strike capability. In the event of a failure-to-fire condition, the shooter can pull the trigger again to re-strike the primer. The manual safety is eliminated to ensure a snag-free deployment and quick engagement in a stressful defense situation.

Trigger

Assisting in more accurate shot placement and trigger control is the G-Series trigger. This is a two-stage trigger system noted for its light uptake to “the wall” followed by a crisp break. The trigger is further enhanced by a short reset for faster target re-engagement.

G3 Tactical pistol being shot
The G-Series trigger included in the G3 Tactical pistol is a two-stage trigger that is specifically designed to provide a light take-up with a distinct wall, crisp break, and short reset capabilities.

A custom soft case is also included with the G3 Tactical for storage and protection while transporting to the range. MSRP for both the 17- and 10-round Taurus G3 Tactical models is $582.98.

Taurus 856 Executive Grade Revolver

If you’re interested in expanding your gun collection to include a revolver, you’re in luck. The 856 Executive Grade revolver, chambered in 38 Special +P, is designed as a high-end addition to the Taurus firearms line. The original 856 will remain available, but the Executive Grade variant promises to be popular due to its many features, both for use and aesthetics.

The Taurus 856 Executive Grade has a stainless steel frame with a hand-polished satin finish. Its overall height is 4.80 inches and overall length is 7.5 inches; it is possible to conceal this revolver if desired. The gun has a 6-round capacity and is chambered in 38 Special +P, so users have the option of using overpressure rounds. Each revolver ships in a Pelican hard case. These are double-action-only guns with concealed hammers.

Taurus made the following statement regarding their 856 Executive Grade revolver:

For years, the 856 has been the go-to favorite for revolver fans looking for a dependable EDC handgun, thanks to its small frame, smooth operation, and easy-to-conceal profile. The 856 Executive Grade takes that same winning performance and elevates it with several appearance and performance modifications applied in its own production room at the state-of-the-art Taurus manufacturing facility in Bainbridge, Georgia.

The 856 Executive Grade features all-stainless-steel construction with an exquisite hand-polished satin finish. The combination exceeds mere aesthetics. The stainless steel’s natural corrosion resistance combined with the silky finish delivers a more comfortable feel in the hand, easier clean up and maintenance, and a smoother draw through leather and clothing. Even the premium Altamont walnut grip provides improved function as well as form. The checkered panels and intelligently contoured profile ensure positive handgun retention and control in stressful conditions and comfortably manages .38 Special +P defense cartridges for fast sight picture reacquisition.

Loading those defense cartridges is quicker and more precise thanks to the 856 Executive Grade’s smooth and chamfered cylinder chambers. By slightly radiusing the chamber edge, cartridges slip easily into the cylinder by preventing the case mouths from “tripping” on the chamber edge. This is an especially welcome feature when manually reloading or when using a speed loader under duress.

Remington Golden Saber 10mm Defensive Ammunition

Choosing the right defensive ammunition is an important process. The defensive loads you use in your carry gun must be reliable, offer good weight retention, expand significantly, and create a threat-stopping wound cavity. Remington’s Golden Saber line of ammunition has been recognized as a solid performer for years, and the line has expanded to include a 10mm load.

Remington released the following information about their Golden Saber Bonded and Defense 10mm:

Formerly a law enforcement only product, Golden Saber is now available to the public. The ultimate in defensive and tactical handgun ammunition, the 10mm AUTO Golden Saber Bonded rounds offer the same features as other products within the Golden Saber Bonded family.

The Golden Saber Defense and Golden Saber Defense Compact 10mm AUTO rounds are non-bonded, budget friendly options that carry many of the same features that make Golden Saber an icon in the personal defense handgun market. Golden Saber Defense Compact is optimized for peak performance in compact or micro-compact pistols and handguns.

Remington Golden Saber Bonded

Regarding the difference between Golden Saber Bonded and Golden Saber Defense, both of which will now include 10mm offerings, Remington said:

Improving on trusted Golden Saber, Golden Saber Bonded’s reduced bullet nose diameter, optimized jacket thickness, and Remington bonded-bullet manufacturing process produces unmatched expansion, weight-retention and barrier-blind performance to keep you safe.

Ammunition will be available as three different load options:

  • Golden Saber Bonded 10mm 180 grain Jacketed Hollow Point, Bonded
  • Golden Saber Defense 10mm 180 grain Jacketed Hollow Point
  • Golden Saber Defense Compact 10mm 180 grain Jacketed Hollow Point

One of the great things about the Golden Saber line is their superior weight retention and consistent performance. Regardless of caliber, Remington’s Golden Saber Defense and Bonded lines have been proven as smart options for self-defense for years. Design and dedication to quality matter quite a bit when it comes to defensive ammunition. Make sure you choose your 10mm loads carefully and take the time to practice with them so you’re familiar with the ammunition’s felt recoil and shot placement.

MSRP varies by product and begins at $35.99.

Owners of the popular Springfield Armory SA-35 9mm and Ruger LCP MAX .380 Auto pistols can upgrade their factory sights with XS night sights for improved performance, day or night.

The XS Sights R3D with green front sight is available for the Springfield SA-35, and the DXT2 Big Dot with orange or yellow front sight is available for the Ruger LCP MAX .380. These self-illuminating night sights enable faster and more accurate target acquisition in high-stress, self-defense situations, giving you an advantage when every fraction of a second counts.

The R3D, pictured above, comes with the green color choice for SA-35 pistols.

Featuring a 3-dot notch and post sight picture, the R3D green front sight is equipped with XS Sights’ proprietary Glow Dot technology. Not only does the Glow Dot absorb ambient light and glow in low light, but it also absorbs light from the tritium center which continually charges the dot. This makes it glow brighter than the rear tritium dots, which drives focus to the front sight.

The R3D Night Sights has a 3-dot tritium notch, post, and sight picture. The 2-dot rear illuminates, giving proper sight alignment with the front sight for accurate indexing.

The R3D offers a high-contrast sight picture in bright and low-light settings. The rear notch is 15% wider than the front sight, allowing more light around the front blade for faster indexing and more accurate alignment. The rear sight is blacked out to reduce glare and keep the focus on the front sight and the threat downrange. It also has a rear sight ledge for one-handed slide manipulation.

DXT2 Ruger LCP MAX
The DXT2 Big Dot Night Sights for the Ruger LCP MAX is available in both green and orange color options. The big dot measures 0.188″.

The DXT2 is XS Sights’ second-generation Big Dot sight, delivering ultra-fast target acquisition in any light thanks to its industry-leading large front sight with Glow Dot and tritium center. Available with an orange or yellow front sight, the Glow Dot is visible even before the tritium can be seen. This glow, in addition to the large dot size, improves speed and accuracy while shooting on the move. Its V-notch rear sight with vertical white stripe and tritium inset facilitates a dot-the-‘i’ sight picture that is fast and instinctive in high-stress situations.

The DXT2 Big Dot from XS Sights uses a proprietary photoluminescent Glow Dot that absorbs the ambient light and will glow in low light situations.

“Our night sights with XS’ proprietary Glow Dot technology offer gun owners distinct advantages in high-stress, self-defense situations,” said Addison Monroe, Marketing Manager, XS Sights. “The purpose-driven designs deliver excellent contrast to drive focus to the front sight for fast and accurate target acquisition when every fraction of a second counts.”

All XS Sights are backed by a 10-year, No Questions Asked Warranty and XS’s 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. The retail price for the R3D is $116 and the DXT2 is $138.
