Federal Ammunition Punch in 22 WMR

Expanding on the line of personal defense ammo for rimfire platforms, Federal Ammunition has Punch ammunition in 22 WMR caliber. This round is propelled at extreme velocities and engineered to minimize expansion to hit critical penetration depths, even through short-barrel handguns.

Federal Ammunition has expanded its Punch line of ammunition to include the 22 WMR option. According to Federal, the expansion of this line to include this load makes rimfire cartridges a viable self-defense option.

“After the launch of the Punch 22 LR we saw the great response to that round and wanted to expand the options,” said Federal’s Rimfire Product Director, Rick Stoeckel, “The Punch 22 WMR continues to allow rimfire users to have effective performance but now in the magnum cartridge.”

The load’s nickel-plated lead-core bullet is propelled at extreme velocities and engineered to minimize expansion to hit critical penetration depths through short-barrel handguns.

This new load expands on the line of Federal Premium Punch Personal Defense options, now in the 22 Win. Mag. Rimfire cartridge. It features a 45-grain nickel-plated lead-core bullet. This bullet is designed for maximum penetration needed in personal defense scenarios. This new load has gone through rigorous testing for reliability and function. The case is nickel-plated for easier extraction and corrosion resistance.

“The success of the bullet designed for the Punch 22 LR easily transferred to the WMR,” continued Stoeckel. “The larger 45-grain bullet and extreme velocities in the Punch 22 WMR allows this to be a great round for popular 22 WMR revolvers.”

According to Federal, the new load underwent stringent function testing that ensures the most reliable ignition, cycling, and overall performance. The ammunition’s maximum velocity for energy and penetration sits at 1,000 fps muzzle velocity through a 2-inch barrel, and 1,800 fps through rifle barrels.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you’ll be getting the idea. What’s interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she’s also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.
