Leonidas Gen 2 Suppressed Upper from Liberty Suppressors

Liberty Suppressors upgraded its Leonidas suppressor to the Leonidas Gen 2, a centerfire suppressed rifle system for the AR15.

Liberty Suppressors, a Georgia-based manufacturer, has upgraded it’s Leonidas suppressed upper to the Leonidas Gen 2 AR-15 upper. With a barrel length of 13.5” and a permanently pinned suppressor, the overall length of the upper is 16.5”, which is over the length needed to not require an additional tax stamp for the upper.

Liberty Suppressors stated, “We are driven to constantly improve upon our products. We’re happy to introduce the very latest in our quest to level up our line of state-of-the-art suppressors. Available now is the next generation of our Leonidas integrally suppressed .300 blk upper.”

The original Leonidas TI was built to maximize suppression and the Gen 2 builds on that legacy. The Leonidas Gen 2 is the next step in achieving the perfect .300 blk rifle, according to the company.

Charging handle
The Leonidas Gen 2 is a complete upper, with items like the suppressor, Criterion barrel, upper receiver, adjustable gas block, rail system, and a custom bent pistol-length gas tube.

The new Leonidas Gen 2 balances gas blowback and ejector port noise with suppression to give the user an extremely pleasant shooting experience. Liberty Suppressors believes the Leonidas Gen 2 is the king of the 300.

The Gen 2 features the same 8” monocore suppressor technology that made its predecessor such a great rifle, only with improvements.

It has a chrome-lined Criterion barrel that’s 8.3” long with an 8” monocore suppressor and 5.5” reflex chamber. This means the shooter gets a total suppressor length of 13.5” and the pinned barrel length is still 16.5” overall, so there isn’t a need for an additional tax stamp.

To top it all off the rail will be a full 12.5” in length and since the overall barrel/suppressor length is only 16.5” giving the ability to run weapon-mounted lights and IR devices as far forward as possible. The company says there won’t have to compromise with a suppressor blocking a portion of your visible/IR light throw.

Leonidas Gen 2 right
The Leonidas Gen 2 suppressor is a monocore design constructed of stainless steel (blast baffle) and titanium (monocore) all inside a titanium tube. It has an overall length of 13.5”, meaning 8” of the suppressor is the monocore and the rest is the reflex chamber.

This allows the end user to choose certain components that go into the build that better suit their personal type and style of shooting.

The Leonidas Gen 2 has an MSRP of $2,295 for the complete upper, or $1,174 for the “B” configuration.

Old vs New Leonidas
The Gen 2 version of the Leonidas suppressed upper system has some of the features from the Gen 1 but is a full inch shorter than the original.
