Martinsburg, WV based Navy Arms (@navyarmsfirearms), a replica manufacturer and importer of historical firearms, has announced the availability of FRF2 sniper rifle replicas in limited numbers.

The FR F2 sniper rifle, or Fusil à Répétition modèle F2, is 7.62 x 51mm NATO  precision weapon. It is commonly used by the French military as well as the security forces of other countries, including those of Lithuania and Estonia.  

According to the release, each FRF2 rifle that Navy Arms has for sale has been individually inspected for functionality.

Once again, Navy Arms has succeeded in bringing military collectors a heretofore unseen model — the French FRF2 sniper rifle. We are proud to offer these unique pieces of firearms history to military collectors and target shooters.

Used in dozens of countries by the French military and police, the FRF2 was a redesigned, upgraded version of the French MAS 36 rifle, chambered in 7.62×51 (.308 Winchester). 

Each FRF2 rifle that Navy Arms has for sale has been hand-inspected to ensure there are no defects and that each gun is complete and operational.

A built-in laser rangefinder on a red dot scope?

Yes, Bear Creek Arsenal’s red dot scope has a built-in laser rangefinder. It can accurately identify ranges out to 600 yards. Since all projectiles travel in an arc, knowing the distance is critical for accurate shot placement. Most ammunition companies and reloading manuals print trajectory charts for specific calibers and bullet weights. Hornady has a Ballistics Chart available on its website. For example, the 5.56 NATO 55 gr. GMX bullet still has 374 ft-lbs of energy at 400 yards, enough for varmint size animals such as foxes, prairie dogs, groundhogs, and coyotes. The problem is bullet drop. With a 200-yard zero, the drop is 7.3 inches at 300 yards and 23 inches at 400 yards. Without accurately knowing the distances, missed shots are inevitable.

With the touch of a button, the BCA red dot instantly displays the distance to an object. There are two modes for display: Fixed, where you can focus on a single object to get the distance, and scan, where you get distances on objects in real-time as you move the gun. The readout is located just below the lens of the optic so the display is always in the shooter’s field of view.

Simultaneously, the readout gives the angle and azimuth. These are also critical because extreme angles at long distances can affect points of impact.

Suppressor maker Thunder Beast took the philosophy from its popular ULTRA series and applied it to a 9mm suppressor—make a high-performance suppressor as light and compact as possible. What they came up with is known as the FLY 9 suppressor.

According to Thunder Beast, the FLY 9 has two configurable lengths—long and short.

Fly 9 Suppressor — Long Configuration

The “Long” length is shorter than everyone else’s modular suppressor’s “Long” configuration, but just as quiet (and often quieter) than the best in this class.

The FLY 9 suppressor’s Long configuration is lighter by at least 20%, in many cases 35% or even 50% than other full-size 9mm suppressors. It weighs only 7.9 ounces in Long configuration, and that includes the booster, piston, and spring. The Long configuration at 7.0 inches is the same length or shorter than many others’ “Short” setups, but quieter.

Fly 9 Suppressor — Short Configuration

In its Short configuration, the FLY 9 is reportedly shorter and lighter than other competitors’ suppressors. Including the piston, it is 4.4″ long, which will typically add about 4.0″ to the OAL of the pistol. It weighs only 5.5 ounces, and that includes a 17-4 steel piston (1/2-28 for weight reference). Thunder Beast had sound levels taken at the muzzle and at the ear under 140 dB when using ammo such as “HUSH” or “STELTH”.

The FLY 9 is rated for .300 Blackout Supersonic ammunition from 8-inch and longer barrels, and .300 Blackout Subsonic ammunition from 5.5-inch barrels and longer. The FLY 9 is also rated for 350 Legend from 16″ barrels and longer.

Strength is one of the FLY 9 key attributes. Thunder Beast uses a rigid test regimen consisting of three 32-round Glock magazines fired from a select-fire subgun: the first two mags on bursts, and the last mag on full auto. They torture tested the suppressor for 30 cycles and it was perfect afterward, according to Thunder Beast.

The FLY 9 ships with a 1/2-28 piston and a fixed barrel spacer (spring replacement). For high-temperature durability, Thunder Beast uses specially-made 17-7 wave springs in the booster. It is compatible with the Rugged/Griffin/SilencerCo/TBAC standard pistons. The FLY 9 suppressor has an MSRP of $1,180.

Rifle Dynamics and Thunder Ranch did it again. Their first baby, the Thunder Ranch AK, has a sibling to join its line of products, the limited edition Thunder Ranch RD700 AK Pistol in an exclusive Tigerstripe finish.

The Rifle Dynamics Thunder Ranch RD700 AK pistol features a custom front-end with the RD Tunable Combination Front Sight and Gas Block.
