Walther WMP .22 Magnum Pistol
The Walther WMP is the German-based gunmaker’s first pistol chambered in .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (WMR) and the platform has an impressive array of features to go along with the new chambering. Walther Vice President of Marketing and Product Development, Jens Krogh says the WMP is the “most reliable and ergonomically correct .22 Magnum pistol ever made.”
The WMP ships with an optics-ready slide to maximize accuracy. Two optics plates are included, and the gun was a generous 5-slot Picatinny rail forward of the trigger guard for lights and other accessories. There is a high visibility fiber optic front sight with a squared-off adjustable notch in the rear.
The grip has a new texturing design and the trigger guard textured on the squared off front. The WMP has an ambidextrous slide release and a large take-down lever. The improved ergonomics and 4.5-inch barrel ensure “ultra-low” recoil. Field stripping is easy. The gun also comes with two 15-round steel magazines. 10-round magazines are available as well.
Brand New Quad Release Reloading Mechanism
The WMP is also the first pistol to feature Walther’s patented ambidextrous Quad Release reloading mechanism. The Quad Release incorporates a magazine release button on each side and the trigger-guard-mounted ambidextrous paddle release of past Walther models, giving the shooter four distinct options to drop the magazine. The Quad Release is easily the most versatile reloading system on the market today.
