Military Armament Corporation JSOC 1911 Pistol

Military Armament Corporation, a relatively young firearms company with the same name as an old market standby, has expanded its line of offerings to include a throwback with the JSOC 1911 pistol. The company states that it’s a classic design from the battlefield lessons of the 1970s and 80s.

CEO, Tim Mulverhill, explained, “The new Military Armament Corporation draws it’s roots from the era of a resurgent American resolve, when we once stood between the massed divisions of the Soviets and our allies in Western Europe, hunted drug cartel kingpins in South America, and being called a communist was the greatest insult imaginable”.

MAC took the lessons learned from the 1970s and 80s and rolled them into the JSOC 1911 pistol. The .45 ACP pistol features a full-sized textured grip with an ambi mag release and dual safeties. [Photo credit: MAC]

The JSOC 1911 pistol is a .45 ACP pistol with a 416R match-grade barrel featuring an 11-degree target crown all in a government-sized forged carbon steel slide and frame. The JSOC 1911 pistol also has a black skeletonized trigger with an overtravel adjustment to go along with the skeletonized hammer.

The slide features an LPA fully adjustable rear sight inlet that allows for a lower profile and easier concealed carry with a brass bead front sight. The full-sized grip features 25 LPI checkering on the front strap and the one-piece competition-style mainspring housing.

Featuring the MAC logo on dark walnut checkered grips, the gun has a beavertail grip safety and ambidextrous thumb safeties. An extended magazine release rounds out the features of this gun. It ships with a cleaning kit, cleaning cloth, hard locking case, and two 8-round magazines.

According to MAC, the company incorporated modifications that used to be performed by 1911 custom shops or by the military armorers at the time into the JSOS design. The JSOC 1911 has a Tennifer QPQ finish on the frame and the slide. No word on pricing yet, but that information, as well as the pistol, will be available at SHOT Show 2023.

Magpul MS1 Lite Sling
Magpul took its popular sling and made it more compact and lighter. At 1″ wide, the MS1 sling keeps Magpul’s anti-chafe and no-pill properties in place with the smaller package. (Photo credit: Magpul)

Magpul states the sling is a great choice for lightweight or smaller firearms and will accept an array of mounting options, like the Paraclip or QDM, to make it fully customizable for the system. Like other Magpul slings, the sling is designed to be comfortable with anti-chafing and no-pilling properties. The company put the sling to the test through some pretty harsh conditions to simulate actual use with great results.

The MS1 Lite sling is available in black, Stealth Gray, Coyote, and Ranger Green. It has a price tag of $39.95

Unity Tactical AXON: Let There Be Light

Odds are good you have a light or laser on your long gun, and if you do, you’re probably familiar with the issue of remote controls. The switches, paddles, and levers for aftermarket accessories like these sometimes work well and sometimes do not, and if you have separate switches, it can get frustrating. Unity Tactical is working to solve this problem with the AXON, a switch for accessories that is designed to make it easy to tell the difference between controls without looking, thanks to tactile differences. The AXON is a great product for long gun shooters, especially those focused on defensive applications.

Unity Tactical designed the AXON to be the top-performing remote switch design on the market for weapon-mounted accessories such as lights and lasers. AXON offers users control and instant access to their lights and lasers, all in a single, compact housing. And, of course, the housing of the AXON is made to withstand rigorous use.

The design and creation of this product is the direct result of operational feedback from professional end-users. This switch allows lights and lasers to be controlled from individual buttons and versions are available for many popular models on the market. The unique design of the AXON includes tactile differentiation between the two buttons, meaning there’s far less confusion when the switch cannot be seen due to lighting or an evolving situation.

The light button, which is angled, features a switch that controls both momentary and continuous activation. As for the laser button, it has a momentary-only button but does support the double-click-for-constant-on feature.

Standard AXON models are made with each button controlling specific devices independently of one another. The company’s SYNC models are designed to run the laser independently with the light button operating the light and laser at the same time. NGAL variants operate in a SYNC capacity and have a visible override feature as well. The product’s standard configuration has a seven-inch cable length.

This product is designed to mount directly to a Picatinny rail and takes up seven rail slots. The Rail Clamps feature pass-throughs for zip ties. The AXON can also be mounted directory to M-LOK using the optional AXON M-LOK Mounting Kit.
