The ammo maker goes on to say:

Self-defense is the best offense. Born from years of Aguila engineering and countless terminal ballistic tests, this defense and tactical round consistently hits dead center and cycles flawlessly.

Your chosen defensive ammunition needs to cycle reliably and perform consistently. That means it must be well-made and produced with an expanding bullet. The Jacketed Hollow Point is a proven bullet nose type created to expand on impact, creating a substantial wound cavity while simultaneously slowing down to prevent over-penetration. After all, you’re not only defending your life, you want to take care not to wound innocent bystanders. You are responsible for every shot fired, and that’s why you want to spend time training and choose the best possible ammunition for your needs.

Dual-Lok HRT 556 Suppressor from Griffin Armament

Initially designed for elite HRT units, the Griffin Armament HRT 556 suppressor is the shortest addition to the DUAL-LOK family of suppressors. To this point, the model has not been available to the general public. Griffin utilizes the DUAL-LOK active retention system with this suppressor, an often time demanded feature by government customers.  This combined with generations of R&D brought a compact, highly durable, low flash, and top-performing suppressor to market for government customers. Griffin is now releasing it to the commercial market.

The Dual-Lok HRT 556 suppressor was designed for the government’s elite HRT units, but now the public can own one. The HRT 556 is the shortest in the Dual-Lok suppressor family as a compact, durable, high-performing suppressor.

The HRT 556 features the patent-pending DUAL-LOK mounting system, an accurate, robust, reliable, and wear-free system with robust muzzle device support.  The suppressor was designed to have a minimal flash signature, despite its size, weight, minimal POI shift, gas blowback, maximum strength, durability, and sound performance.  This was a tough list of performance attributes to tackle, but Griffin succeeded by bringing unbeatable sound suppression and flash reduction to this compact suppressor.

Griffin Armament HRT 556 Suppressors on firearms
The HRT 556 suppressor features the Dual-Lok mounting system that is wear-free system with a robust muzzle device. The suppressor comes with one Minimalist Brake from Griffin Armament, with other mounting options available as well.

Baffle technology is carried over and tuned from the 4th generation Recce Suppressors, borrowing the ECO-FLOW patented feature that greatly increases performance. ECO-FLOW baffles reduce back-pressure, increasing flow, thus making the suppressor host firearm operating system more reliable and unaffected by the suppressor and providing cleaner breathing air to the operator’s face.  The patented low profile flash suppressing end cap further adds performance to the low flash baffle system.

Griffin Armament HRT 556 on white
The HRT 556 suppressor barrows from the Eco-Flow feature that reduces back-pressure, increases flow, and helps make the host weapon more reliable. According to Griffin, there are no minimum barrel requirements for the suppressor.

Austin, Lead Design Engineer at Griffin Armament, said, “I spent several months very focused on this project with our production managers and technicians making small changes to the baffle system, cutting the prototype parts, welding prototypes, then testing through our B&K pulse system, and repeating this cycle over and over and over.  I wanted the absolute best sound and flash performance in the smallest size possible.  Our team achieved it. I have never made so many prototypes for one series in the last 17 years as I did with the DUAL-LOK cans. Bringing together sound and flash performance, while retaining accuracy and durability in a package this small; we haven’t done it before. This little can has some of the best flash performance of any in our line, regardless of its size.  I’m really proud of what our team did here.”

DUAL-LOK suppressors are machined in Griffin’s Watertown Wisconsin facility by freedom-loving Americans. The Dual-Lok HRT 556 suppressor has an MSRP of $995.

Crimson Trace HRO: Durable Reliability

Whether or not a specific optic can handle the recoil of larger-caliber guns is a question that comes up often. If you’re a fan of red dots, but you’ve been worried about the potential for the recoil of your firearm to damage the dot, you’re in luck. The Crimson Trace HRO (Heavy Recoil Optic) is specifically made for serious use on larger-caliber guns. It’s made to handle greater recoil, and then some, so you can have your big caliber gun and a red dot, too.

Crimson Trace provides details of their optic:

The HRO (Heavy Recoil Optic) is the next generation of quick acquisition tactical reflex sights. Packed with best-in-class features like CT Motion “shake-to-wake” sensor and integrated Pic Rail mount, the HRO looks good and performs even better.

Crimson Trace HRO
The HRO has a durable aluminum housing and is compatible with Picatinny rails. (Photo credit: Crimson Trace)

According to the manufacturer, this red dot has a 50,000-hour battery life. That’s probably due in part to the fact that the optic relies on the company’s motion sensor technology and has an automatic shutoff as well. The HRO is designed to mount to Picatinny rails by way of an integral rail mount.

The use of a red dot can increase target acquisition speed and provide the user with a broader field of view. The clarity of Crimson Trace glass is historically clear and of good quality. Red dots are great for everything from tactical use to defensive use to hunting applications. It’s well worth installing one and taking the time to learn to run it effectively.

Leonidas Gen 2 Suppressed Upper from Liberty Suppressors

Liberty Suppressors upgraded its Leonidas suppressor to the Leonidas Gen 2, a centerfire suppressed rifle system for the AR15.

Liberty Suppressors, a Georgia-based manufacturer, has upgraded it’s Leonidas suppressed upper to the Leonidas Gen 2 AR-15 upper. With a barrel length of 13.5” and a permanently pinned suppressor, the overall length of the upper is 16.5”, which is over the length needed to not require an additional tax stamp for the upper.

Liberty Suppressors stated, “We are driven to constantly improve upon our products. We’re happy to introduce the very latest in our quest to level up our line of state-of-the-art suppressors. Available now is the next generation of our Leonidas integrally suppressed .300 blk upper.”

The original Leonidas TI was built to maximize suppression and the Gen 2 builds on that legacy. The Leonidas Gen 2 is the next step in achieving the perfect .300 blk rifle, according to the company.

Charging handle
The Leonidas Gen 2 is a complete upper, with items like the suppressor, Criterion barrel, upper receiver, adjustable gas block, rail system, and a custom bent pistol-length gas tube.

The new Leonidas Gen 2 balances gas blowback and ejector port noise with suppression to give the user an extremely pleasant shooting experience. Liberty Suppressors believes the Leonidas Gen 2 is the king of the 300.

The Gen 2 features the same 8” monocore suppressor technology that made its predecessor such a great rifle, only with improvements.

It has a chrome-lined Criterion barrel that’s 8.3” long with an 8” monocore suppressor and 5.5” reflex chamber. This means the shooter gets a total suppressor length of 13.5” and the pinned barrel length is still 16.5” overall, so there isn’t a need for an additional tax stamp.

To top it all off the rail will be a full 12.5” in length and since the overall barrel/suppressor length is only 16.5” giving the ability to run weapon-mounted lights and IR devices as far forward as possible. The company says there won’t have to compromise with a suppressor blocking a portion of your visible/IR light throw.

Leonidas Gen 2 right
The Leonidas Gen 2 suppressor is a monocore design constructed of stainless steel (blast baffle) and titanium (monocore) all inside a titanium tube. It has an overall length of 13.5”, meaning 8” of the suppressor is the monocore and the rest is the reflex chamber.

Specifications

  • Lenght of suppressor module: 13.5″
  • Length of barrel/suppressor assembly: 16.5″
  • Barrel length: 8.5”
  • Weight of complete upper: 4.7lb (including BCH and charging handle)
  • Diameter of suppressor: 1.625”

Suppressor Material

  • Core –  6AL-4V Titanium (Grade 5)
  • Front retaining ring – Alloy steel
  • Tube – Titanium (Grade 9)
  • Blast baffle – Stainless steel
  • Rear cap – Aluminum
  • Barrel – Criterion 8.3″, 1:7 twist, 5r, chrome lined
  • Gas block – 416 stainless steel
  • Coating – Matte Black (Type “C”) Cerakote

As always, it will still be available in an option “B” configuration. The “B” configuration has the end user sending their intended upper receiver, rail, and gas block to Liberty and they build an upper with the suppressor and those parts. This allows the end user to choose certain components that go into the build that better suit their personal type and style of shooting.

The Leonidas Gen 2 has an MSRP of $2,295 for the complete upper, or $1,174 for the “B” configuration.

Old vs New Leonidas
The Gen 2 version of the Leonidas suppressed upper system has some of the features from the Gen 1 but is a full inch shorter than the original.

Radical Defense M2FVS Suppressor — .50 Can

The Radical Defense M2FVS suppressor offers sound, thermal, and flash mitigation along with a reduction in ground disturbance. It’s a 3D-printed monolithic design incorporating their forward venting mono-core design. The internal Venturi and Breathable Technology ports reduce back pressure and bring cool air through the suppressor.

Radical Defense has added to its FVS line of suppressors with the M2FVS suppressor, currently being tested as part of the Army’s 50 caliber contract.

The biggest thing about this .50 can is that it is designed to directly thread to a mil std M2A1 without modifying the barrel or recoil system. They are currently conducting endurance testing to RFI W15BW9-22-X-JKTH standard which is 50 rounds in cadence and 50 rounds full auto sustained then cool to ambient and repeat.

M2FVS being shot on M2A1
The Radical Defense M2FVS is designed to directly thread on the military standard M2A1 rifle without modifying the barrel or recoil system.

The Army M2A1 contract requirements state that the suppressor should maintain or reduce the current flash levels as well as reducing sound and environmental disturbances. Additionally, the suppressor should be designed to minimize toxic fumes at the gunner’s face while not decreasing the weapon’s cyclic rate when firing specific Ball/Tracer ammunition. The requirements also state that the sound reduction from using the suppressor should be at least 6dB in peak, unweighted sound at the shooter’s ear.

Radical Defense suppressor line
The Radical Defense M2FVS joins the other FVS suppressors, the 240 and the 249 FVS suppressors, from Modern Defense. These suppressors are specifically designed for machine gun hosts.

M2FVS Features

  • Zero modifications to the host weapon system or barrel
  • Direct Thread on suppressor
  • Rapid cooling, Venturi Assisted Breathable technology
  • IR non-reflective coating
  • Integrated flash reduction
M2FVS on M2A1
The M2FVS for the M2A1 has an IR non-reflective coating and rapid cooling, Venturi Assisted Breathing technology from Radical Defense.

According to reports, the M2FVS is doing very well but they aren’t ready to announce how many cycles they’ve completed so far. This video shows the FVS line of suppressors in action which covers from 5.56 to .50.

Patti Miller is one of the most awesome females in the tactical/firearm (or any) industry. Imagine a tall, hawt, dangerous Laura Ingalls Wilder type with cool hair and a suppressed blaster and you’ll be getting the idea. What’s interesting is that in addition to being a willing brawler and intrepid adventuress, she’s also an Ent/Ogier level gardener and a truly badass baker.

Blackout Defense KeyMo-Compatible Muzzle Devices: Greater Modularity

Choosing a muzzle device for your gun might seem simple, but considering how many muzzle devices are on the market, it can get complicated. If you’re interested in muzzle devices that both look good and perform to a higher standard than many others, take a look at the Blackout Defense Key-Mo compatible line. The line includes both a KeyMo Flash Hider and Hybrid Comp/Flash Hider design.

Blackout Defense provides the following details of these muzzle devices:

Both designs are made from 17-4 stainless steel and heat-treated in-house to condition H900, providing 14% higher ultimate tensile strength over hardened 4140 steel. Every 90-degree corner is meticulously machined with undercut profiles, improving suppressor seal and engagement. The close-pronged feature in both designs helps reduce flash and eliminates the tuning-fork “ping.”

The manufacturer goes on to say:

In addition, the KeyMo Hybrid features four jet ports drilled at 51 degrees to direct gas forward and away from the shooter. These jet ports are recessed with a flat face to reduce carbon buildup on the device and provide easier removal of the suppressor. This reduces muzzle rise, softens recoil, and reduces excessive flash typically found in muzzle brakes.

Because Blackout Defense is officially licensed, Dead Air will honor its lifetime suppressor warranty when using Blackout Defense KeyMo muzzle devices.

KeyMo is an attachment point specific to Dead Air Silencers. Thanks to the way this Blackout Defense muzzle device line was created, it’s designed to function not only as a muzzle brake but as an attachment point compatible with KeyMo suppressors. These devices are heat treated and have specially-shaped prongs made to fine-tune your shooting experience. They’re offered in either black or H900, the latter of which is a deep gold or bronze color.
